Nasolabial fold
A refreshed appearance
The line running from the nose toward the corners of the mouth is called the nasolabial fold. Over time, this fold can become deeper due to the loss of skin elasticity. As the skin loses its firmness, subcutaneous fat tissue from the cheekbone area essentially sags downward. This creates a fold that eventually becomes deep enough to cause a tired or stern appearance.
Through a filler treatment, our doctors can fill the groove, the so-called fold between the mouth and nose. As a result, this deep line disappears almost immediately after the first treatment.
You will discuss all possible options with a doctor, and together you will look for the best treatment for your face. For example, a filler treatment of the cheekbones can enhance the effect of the nasolabial fold treatment. Treating the cheekbones has a significant lifting effect on the upper part of the face, making the nasolabial fold less visible. This improves the balance of the face and ensures a more vibrant and radiant facial expression.
During a free and non-binding consultation, there is plenty of time and space to discuss the above possibilities.

Before the treatment
After your health has been mapped out, photos of the face have been taken, and the consent form has been signed, a numbing cream will be applied to the nasolabial fold. The treatment itself takes only a few minutes. Using an ultra-thin needle, the doctor performs five to ten injections per fold. After the area has been lightly massaged, there is time and space to cool the area for a moment. If you want to prevent potential bruising, it is advisable to start using Arnica drops beforehand. Start taking these drops five days before the treatment. Arnica is available at the pharmacy.

After the treatment
The doctors at Dikrama Clinics advise not to apply makeup after the treatment. For the first 3 days after the treatment, you should not visit a tanning bed or sauna. Also avoid direct sunlight outdoors and wear a good SPF on your face. Do not schedule any intensive facial treatments with a beautician for two weeks. If necessary, we will schedule a follow-up appointment after 2 weeks.

Recovery time
After a filler treatment for the nasolabial fold, you may experience swelling and/or bruising. The area may be cooled with ice immediately after the treatment. You certainly don't have to avoid social appointments after a treatment; you can safely camouflage any bruises with makeup the next day.

Duration of results
Our doctors much prefer to use less product during your first visit to us. We would like to see you for a follow-up appointment after two weeks; if the doctor concludes during this check-up that a light touch-up is needed, there will be time for that during the appointment. The doctors at Dikrama Clinics study every face thoroughly to achieve the most natural result possible. With us, less is always more!
The filler used by the doctors at Dikrama Clinics (Hyaluronic acid) is broken down by the body on average within twelve months after the treatment of the nasolabial fold. This means you can enjoy your (new) more rested and softer appearance for a considerably long time.
Safety
Hyaluronic acid is one of the building blocks of the skin. It ensures better hydration and elasticity of the skin. The body recognizes hyaluronic acid, and therefore the chance of an allergic or foreign body reaction to a hyaluronic acid filler is extremely small. If a small accumulation or asymmetry has developed in the face after the treatment, there is no reason for concern. This can usually be massaged away easily. Furthermore, hyaluronic acid is the only filler that can be actively dissolved. We provide everyone with a customized result and can dissolve any excess filler with Hyason if necessary.
The doctors at Dikrama Clinics are BIG-registered (members of the NVDV, NVCD, and NHG) and only use Botulinum Toxins and wrinkle fillers from A-brands.
Safety is one of the most important criteria by which we select our wrinkle fillers and Botulinum Toxin. The brands Dikrama Clinics treats with have been on the market for decades, and 5-40 million treatments have already been performed with these brands. These large numbers indicate that the chance of unexpected complications is very small. Additionally, our doctor Petra Dikrama has experience treating filler complications at the filler complication clinic at Erasmus MC.

Frequently Asked Questions
The doctors at Dikrama Clinics use a hyaluronic acid filler. We prefer this filler because it gives beautiful natural results and can be actively dissolved (if necessary). This is a very important advantage should unexpected complications occur.
No, we believe in aging beautifully while maintaining your own facial features. Because we always work according to the less is more philosophy, we are relatively conservative with filling. We prefer to fill with less product initially and then create a follow-up plan (if necessary). You will walk out of the clinic with a satisfied smile.
The costs start from €400.
