Crow's feet

Treating smile lines with Botox

Crow’s feet are actually happy wrinkles. You get them from laughing a lot. Although crow’s feet are often seen as charming, they can sometimes remain bothersome in the skin when you are not laughing, or when they extend to the cheeks and/or lower eyelids. In those cases, it is possible to treat crow’s feet with Botox (Botulinum Toxin) or a filler.

Before After

Crow’s feet around the eyes are often called smile lines and enhance your appearance. It is perfectly fine to show that you are in the prime of your life and enjoying it to the fullest. These wrinkles form due to the repeated contraction of the muscle around the eye, combined with signs of aging such as a decrease in skin elasticity and volume loss of the underlying tissue. However, you may find these wrinkles bothersome when they become deeper and more prominent.

A natural result

At Dikrama Clinics, we stand for a natural result. The tight-looking faces in the media and glossy magazines are not a reflection of our clientele.

The doctors at Dikrama Clinics look carefully at all your wishes and possibilities before giving personal advice that fits the natural features of your face. We prefer to start with one Botox zone to let you get used to the effect quietly before treating multiple zones, if desired. “Less is more” is our motto.

The Botox treatment process

  1. Before the treatment

No anesthesia is required for a Botox treatment of the crow's feet. Before the doctor starts the injections, you will be asked to smile so that the crow's feet become visible and the injection points can be determined.

  2. After the treatment

Exercise is not allowed for up to four hours after the treatment. We advise you to regularly contract the crow's feet, so keep smiling. You should not lie down for two hours after the treatment.

  3. Recovery time

When you are treated with Botox for crow's feet, side effects are almost never an issue. It can truly be called a "lunchtime treatment."

  4. Duration of results

After the first treatments, the result is visible for an average of three to four months. If you visit more often, the result is visible for an average of five months. This varies per person.

Safety

Botulinum Toxin or Botox is an extremely safe medicine. Botulinum Toxin falls under the Medicines Act; before the product was admitted to the market, years of research were conducted into its effectiveness, side effects, and complications. Botox has been used in the medical world for more than forty years for things like muscle spasms. Furthermore, the doctors at Dikrama Clinics have years of experience using this product and will always inject it in the correct way and in the right amount.

Frequently asked questions

With proper administration of Botox injections, there is no reason to fear drooping eyebrows. The muscles of the crow’s feet actually pull the eyebrow down slightly and will now be temporarily deactivated, allowing the eyebrow muscles to do their job better again. Some people even experience a lifting effect in the eyebrows after an anti-crow’s feet treatment.

Naturally, something changes around your eyes. Sometimes people do not like the look of a Botox treatment in this area. In that case, a filler treatment can offer a solution. During a free and non-binding consultation with one of our doctors, we can show you beforehand what happens to your skin and you will receive tailored advice.

The preferred treatment for crow’s feet is Botox.
For deep wrinkles, it is sometimes necessary to use a filler as a supplement. Sometimes only a filler around the eyes is possible. Naturally, our experienced doctors provide sound advice on your situation and whether a Botox treatment is sufficient or if a filler is a better solution for you.
