Marionette lines / Melomental folds
Hello cheerful face
Drooping mouth corners create a sad and dissatisfied appearance. When the corners of the mouth begin to sag, what we call marionette lines develop. These lines run downwards from both corners of the mouth. These lines usually give a dissatisfied expression. This is often experienced as annoying because people are wrongly addressed about being in a bad mood.
The lines below the mouth start to sag as you get older; weight loss can also contribute to deeper marionette lines. Together with the doctor, you will look at what the best treatment is for you to get rid of drooping mouth corners. A filler can offer a solution for this problem. A filler treatment for drooping mouth corners is a relatively minor procedure that provides a visibly softer facial expression almost immediately. It may be necessary to also fill the cheeks or cheekbones to achieve the maximum lift of the mouth corners. Often, filling the jawline also gives an extra boost to the overall result. All these possibilities will be discussed with the doctor during the intake consultation.

The marionette line treatment
Upon arrival, photos are taken, the doctor maps out your health, and after the necessary forms are completed, the marionette lines are treated with an anesthetic cream. The actual treatment takes only a few minutes. The doctor places five to ten small injections per fold and then lightly massages the area. After the treatment, there is time and space to cool the area.

Before the treatment
Not everyone gets bruising after a filler treatment, but if you do experience this, you may cover it with makeup 24 hours after the treatment. To try and prevent bruising as much as possible, we recommend not taking Aspirin, Naproxen, or Ibuprofen 48 hours before the treatment. Consult your GP about temporarily stopping this medication (if necessary). If you take dietary supplements or extra vitamins that have a blood-thinning effect and/or fish oil, it is important that you stop taking these five days before the booked treatment.
The use of Arnica drops has also proven effective against bruising. Start taking these drops five days before the treatment. Arnica is available at the drugstore. -
After the treatment
We advise not wearing any makeup for the first few hours after a marionette line treatment. It is also not permitted to visit a tanning bed or sauna during the first week after the treatment. Avoid direct sunlight outdoors and apply a good SPF to your face. Do not plan any intensive facial treatments with a beautician for two weeks. We look forward to seeing you back for the check-up appointment two weeks after the treatment!

Recovery time
Slight swelling may occur after a filler treatment of the marionette lines. Fortunately, this slight swelling disappears relatively quickly and is no longer visible after a few days. Any small bruises may be camouflaged with makeup the day after the treatment.

Duration of results
On average, you can enjoy your new cheerful appearance for a year!
Safety
Hyaluronic acid is one of the building blocks of the skin. It ensures better hydration and elasticity of the skin. The body is familiar with hyaluronic acid, which makes the chance of an allergic or foreign body reaction to a hyaluronic acid filler extremely small. If a small accumulation or asymmetry has developed in the face after the treatment, there is no cause for concern. This can usually be massaged away easily. Furthermore, hyaluronic acid is the only filler that can be actively dissolved. We provide everyone with a customized result and can dissolve any excess filler with Hyason if necessary.

Frequently asked questions
This zone is one of the more difficult areas to treat. This is because the mouth is in motion so much and as many as six muscles come together in this relatively small zone. If the skin has become so slack, the doctors at Dikrama Clinics may advise a different treatment. In the case of significant skin sagging, a liquid facelift may offer a better solution than a single filler treatment. By including the cheeks and cheekbones, the lifting effect becomes greater. You can discuss all the above possibilities with the doctor during a free intake consultation.
The mouth corner and jawline are simply in the same area and are therefore often treated together (treating them together ensures beautiful results). But of course, you choose for yourself what you consider necessary for the result you have in mind.
A treatment is possible from €700.
